IKWF State Series Eligibility and Information

The State Series is right around the corner. Only those wrestlers and coaches listed on the ACTIVE club roster here: IKWF Club Rosters, are eligible for the 2023 IKWF State Series or any IKWF sanctioned event listed here: IKWF Event Listing. If a wrestler or coach is listed on the pending roster, they ARE NOT eligible for the State Series or any IKWF event.

For those coaches and wrestlers currently on the pending roster and any new coaches or wrestlers, they have until February 4, 2023 to complete the information in bylaw 19.3 State Series eligibility requirements for wrestlers and wrestling leaders (coaches):

19.3.1: The requirements below must be completed by 21 days prior to the start of IKWF regional competition.

19.3.2 Wrestlers
19.3.2.1 Purchase a current year USAW Athlete Membership.
19.3.2.2 Age verified by the IKWF office.
19.3.2.3 Listed on an active IKWF club roster.

19.3.3 Wrestling Leaders (Coaches)
19.3.3.1 Complete Safe Sport Training from USA Wrestling’s provider.
19.3.3.2 Complete and receive an approved background screening from USA Wrestling’s provider.
19.3.3.3 Purchase a current membership year USAW Wrestling Leader Membership.
19.3.3.4 Complete National Coaches Education Program (NCEP) certification, any level.
19.3.3.5 Listed on an active IKWF club roster.

IKWF Regional and Sectional information can be found by clicking on the “State Series” link in the navigation bar.

Regional tournament locations and team assignments are handled by each of the 8 sectional directors and will be posted on the “Regional Assignments” page when the office receives it. Regional team assignments are not received by the IKWF office until after the State Series eligibility deadline.

2023 Jon Davis Kids Open

The Jon Davis Kids Open is just around the corner! In the navigation bar, hover (or tap) on “Kids Open” for information and the preregistration link contained on the information page.

Preregistration deadline is 11:59 pm, Wednesday, January 11, 2023. If you miss the preregistration deadline, they can still register but it must be done at the Bank of Springfield Center on Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 3 pm to 5 pm. No preregistration will be allowed or accepted at the satellite weigh-in sites.

Satellite Weigh-in Sites:
Central: State Farm Center, 6 pm to 7 pm, Greeters and signs will be posted for the weigh-in room. See U of I wrestle Purdue at 7 pm after you weigh-in.
Central Chicago: Oak Forest Community Center, 9 am to 10 am
North: Huntley Middle School, Dekalb, 10 am to 12 pm
North Chicago: Toss Em Up Wrestling Academy, Waukegan, Enter Door #402, 10 am to 11 am
South: Lansdowne Center, East St. Louis, 10 am to 12 pm
South Chicago: Franklin Loebe Center, Orland Park, 8:30 am to 10 am
West: nWo Wrestling Facility, Sheridan, 11 am to 12 pm
West Chicago: St. Charles East High School, Enter Door #39, 9 am to 10 am

Wrestlers must weigh-in wearing a competition singlet or legal two-piece uniform. No exceptions!

2021-22 Season

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues across the globe, the CDC, the IDPH, and local school districts have been faced with difficult decisions concerning our health and safety. The IKWF shares these concerns as we attempt to move the IKWF forward through this unprecedented time.

 At this time, the board of directors wish to proceed with the 2021-22 season with as much normalcy as possible. Practices, events and dual meets will be allowed while still following any guidelines and recommendations instituted by federal, state, and/or local agencies.

 Important Dates for the 2021-22 Season
Dec. 4, 2021 – Competition start date (first day clubs are allowed to sanction events)
Jan. 15 & 16, 2022 – Jon Davis Kids Open, BOS Center – Springfield
Jan. 30, 2022 – Dual Meet State Championships, Willowbrook High School – Villa Park
Feb. 26 or 27, 2022 – Regionals
Mar. 5, 2022 – Sectionals
March 10, 11, & 12, 2022 – State Championships, BMO Harris Bank Center – Rockford

Official’s Recruitment
